Hello Joe Lauria, Ray McGovern and Rick Wolff,

I thought last week’s “The World This Week” (HERE, or scroll down) was one of the best, but yesterday morning’s was at least as enlightening — I would say entertaining as well, except that in some languages that could mean distracting, and this was an antidote to distraction.

Your latest (HERE, including introduction, subtitles, and so far thirteen comments) is in competition for best of the year. You might consider adding a transcript.

Good for the title Shameless, except that it doesn’t nearly reflect the nightmare years that may have only begun or the reality that Presidents Trump and Netanyahu for all their — and their governments’ — gross criminalities are only a part of, as it is a continuation of less obvious criminalities since the two were in short pants or before.

Good for President Lula of Brazil, the emir of Qatar, and King Abdullah of Jordan for at least their words in the General Assembly.

Good for the former assistant professor of economics at CCNY for recalling his only personal encounter with a onetime Israeli ambassador to the United Nations and reliving it for witnesses decades later.

Good for Haaretz and the New York Times for their reports of detailed Israeli foreknowledge (at least) of the Oct. 7 attack.

I hadn’t noticed this month’s regional elections in Germany despite AP’s and Reuters’ reports HERE and HERE, or anything about the prospects for Jean-Luc Mélenchon and his France Unbowed party next door, although Reuters did have THIS.

The idea that the “far left” and the “far right” in Germany and France have increased their prospects because of popular revulsion with “centrists” like Chancellor Merz and President Macron and their foreign policies does seem accurate.

Thank you for this and more.

Keep it up.

Mark Miller

P.S.  A word about wordy, windy, incoherent commenters. They dishonor you and other commenters, I think maliciously, while pretending to applaud what you have put together. Don’t fall for it.
